Using the Wendy's Labor Matrix 2.9 plug-in
What is the Wendy's Labor Matrix 2.9?
The Syrus Labor Scheduler uses a variety of plug-ins to assist you with labor
management. The Wendy's Labor Matrix version 2.9 was originally developed by Wendy's International Inc. in order to assist franchisees with labor management. The Wendy's Labor
Matrix 2.9 takes into consideration,
store layout, productivity enhancements available and hours of operation. If you
are an operator that maintains hours of operation consistent with these Wendy's
standard hours

The Wendy's Labor Matrix v2.9 with be adequate. However, if the site is non standard or varies hours of operation daily, the LMS 1.2 plug-in included with Syrus Labor Scheduler 2010 may yield better guideline results.
Before you start
Review the hours of operation for your sites. Hours of operation are managed by your Syrus
Account Representative based on your business administrators direction. In the event that hours of operation need to be changed for a site or series
of sites, your Syrus Account Representative will need to make the appropriate changes before you can create a labor guide for that site.
Additionally, you will need to be aware of the store layout and be
knowledgeable of the productivity enhancements at each site. By default, users
of Syrus Labor Scheduler do not have access to the enterprise guide tools. You
will need to contact your Syrus Account Representative to have access granted to
this feature.
To check the hours of operation for a site
- Login to the Syrus Labor Scheduler 2010
- Navigate to the site your wish to check
- Select Go > Store Setup
- Review the Hours of operation that are setup for the store
- If you need to make a change, contact your Syrus Account Representative at 1-800-647-1560
- Once the change has been made, you will need to re-synchronize the data.

Creating a Guide
To create a guide for a store using the Wendy's Labor Matrix 2.9
- Login to the Syrus Labor Scheduler and select a site from your home page.
- Select Go > Guide Setup
- On the Create a Guide menu, select the Wendy's Labor Guide v2.9 from the drop down. Select > Start
- On the Labor Guide Setup Menu. Select the store type from the drop down. The store type is representative of the physical layout of the site.
- If the store has pickup window(s), check the appropriate box
- Enter your percent above base menu pricing for the site. There is an entry for the lunch menu and breakfast menu. Select Next >. If you are uncertain of your base above pricing, you may contact your Syrus account representative for assistance.
- Select the appropriate productivity enhancements from the list of check boxes. Select Next >
- If you have special labor considerations for the site, you may enter those values in the specialty units form of the Labor Guide Setup. Unsigned values are inherently positive. These values will be added or subtracted from the weekly total. Select Next >.
- The adjustment form is in addition to the original Labor Matrix v2.9.
The selections available allow you to modify the guide in the following manner;
- Admin - Modifies the daily Administrative hours allocation calculated by the Wendy's Labor Matrix v2.9
- Open - Modifies the daily Open allocation hours calculated by the Wendy's Labor Matrix v2.9
- Close - Modifies the daily Close allocation hours calculated by the Wendy's Labor Matrix v2.9
- Service - Modifies the Weekly Service allocation hours calculated by the Wendy's Labor Matrix v2.9. (See Note Below)
- Staffing - Modifies the Hourly Staffing allocation hours calculated by the Wendy's Labor Matrix v2.9. (See Note Below)
- When the Save Guide dialog box appears, enter a descriptive name for the guide you have just created.
- Select Finish
Activating and Deactivation guides
The Syrus Labor Scheduler enables you to periodically activate labor guides based on a calendar. You may also activated an deactivate a group of guides. Navigate to the site to activate guide(s).
To Deactivate a labor guide
- Select Go > Guide Setup.
- Locate the guide to be deactivated in the activate guides section.
- Select the labor guide you wish to deactivate.
- Select Remove.
To add a guide to the Active set of guides
- Select Go > Guide Setup.
- Select the guide from the inactive guides section.
- Select Add.
To change the time span for when a guide is to be Active
- Select the guide from the Active guides Section on the guide setup form.
- Select Edit.
- Select Recurrence Pattern for the guide.
- Select the Range of Recurrence for the guide.
- Select Finish.
Reviewing, Comparing and renaming Guides
The Syrus Labor Scheduler provides a quick method to
review and compare labor guides.
To Remove a labor guide feature
- Navigate to the site to the compare guides
- Select Go > Review Guides
- Select the guide to be remove from the Guide Name drop down.
- Select Remove Guide... IMPORTANT- If you remove a guide, it will be permanently removed, this includes any instances where it has been copied to another store.
To Rename a guide
- Navigate to the site to rename the guide.
- Select Go > Review Guides.
- Select the guide to be renamed from the Guide Name drop down.
- Select Rename Guide. Enter the name that the guide is to be renamed to.
- Select Finish.
To Compare Guides
- Navigate to the site.
- Select Go > Guide Setup.
- Select Review > Guides.
- Select Compare Guides.
- Select the guides to compare from the drop down menu.
- Select the comparison period.
- Enter the Average Hourly Rate for the site. (Include Managers).
- Enter the Sales Projection for the comparison period.
- Select Recalculate.
- To export a copy of the comparison, Select the export button. (to PDF or Microsoft Excel format).
Copying guides to other sites.
The Syrus labor scheduler allows you to re-use and assign labor guides from one site to another site or a group of sites.
If you have access to more than one business set, you may assign guides to other sites in another business set.
IMPORTANT: note that when you copy guide information from one store to another, the store receiving the guide copy needs to have the same hours of
operation, store layout, menu pricing and productivity
enhancements. Also, make certain that the guide you are copying is the active guide for the site.
The guide copy feature creates a reference from the source store guide to
the target.
- Navigate to the site you wish to copy information from.
- Select Go > Copy Store Setup
- In the Store Setup form, uncheck the tasks and position boxes.
- Select the business/sites to copy to if that is appropriate.
- Select Copy
- Select Finish.
